I have taken a variety of factors into account for this review First, if I were to compare my meal here with the ones I've had at The Garlic, this one wins hands down! The service here is better. The location is perfect and so is the bread. Although I think their fish needs some help, everything else is on point. I posted some photos of our salads ... They were fresh and well composed. Come here early though because it gets loud and crowded at peak hours.

My parents are obsessed with this place. They ate here almost every day of their week long vacation. So I decided to try it out with them - twice. I have to say that both times I was very underwhelmed. The service isn't very good, although the servers are nice. You will not get in and out of this place in a timely fashion. My favorite part about this place is probably their balsamic vinegar that they give you with your bread, it's really very good and I believe they make it. It really disappointed me to see they don't even make their pasta fresh, it's boxed and it's advertised on their menu! I will say of the two dishes I had there, the Chicken Marsala was very good. I asked for it with veggies, as I learned after my first time there. My dad loved their tiramisu but I have definitely had better. Also, it can get very loud and if they have the doors open, hot. For NSB this place is decent, but it would definitely not be my first choice.

Went for lunch on a Saturday and it was 50% full. They have a tv over bar and along the wall so you can watch sports. They bring you warm white bread with olive oil/balsamic vinegar for dipping. For an entrée, my brother and I split the lasagna. They didn't charge us a sharing charge and even cut the lasagna and put it on separate plates. For $12 it comes with a salad which had romaine lettuce and a yummy vinaigrette dressing. Our server was friendly and efficient. There is a lot of outdoor seating too. The parking is behind the building and is free. They have a good menu with options for a salad, Panini's, or regular Italian dishes. With your yelp checkin you get a free tiramisu. It was not super coffee tasting but was refreshing and light with the whip cream topping. This is a cute local place. I heard other reviewers mention it was loud and warm. On the day we were there, we didn't have any of those issues.

We always love a great meal from this quaint little Italian restaurant. Pasta and Pizza are always fresh and delicious! We have dined here as a couple and with a part of 8. They always have taken great care

Hands down, one of the best Italian restaurants I've eaten at, and I've been to many in Florida! The wood fired pizzas are all fresh ingredients, the pastas and salads are authentic and awesome! The portions are generous and on top of that, the ambience is comfortable (family style) you can dress casual. A must stop when you come to downtown New Smyrna Beach!

the food was quite delicious and the service was great. Myself and my best friend went here for lunch after a day at the beach. We started off with the eggplant rollatini, which were well worth it. I didn't even miss my usual order of calamari. I then had some incredibly delicious italian lentil soup. .. Overall the food here is cooked VERY well and the food tastes very fresh and home made. We were full but we didn't leave with that disgusting feeling you can get from eating at larger chain restaurants. I'll be visiting here again.

BAD SERVICE,POOR FOOD, AND EVEN WORSE MANAGEMENT!! This restaurant would make a perfect place for what not to do as a owner! What started out as a quaint little place on a side street turned out to be a nightmare. With the restaurant only 60-70% filled, our dinner took at least an hour to be served as the owner drank behind the bar with his rowdy guest. He even joked about having to feed us too much bread because of our long wait. No apologies just jokes! After an hour wait for our food, My Fettuccine Alfredo with chicken came out without the chicken added to the meal. They took another 30 minutes to finally bring me a piece of chicken that looked and taste like boiled chicken! Literally rubbery boiled chicken!! No sauce on it. No apology by the waiter or the owner!! The owner seemed to be oblivious to anything going on in his restaurant. As I ate alone my cold stringy tough pasta and my rubber chicken, never an apology and no comp of even my 90 minute meal!! Luckily we had a great time with our friends but the food and service was a definite strike out. Unfortunately, for the first time ever, these Empty Nester's give "That's Amore Restaurant" "NO THUMBS AND ONE STAR!!"

We were a little disappointed. After receiving several recommendations to go here for dinner we found our meal to be less then special. Our salad was swimming in dressing and or ravioli rubbery and overlooked. The only saving grace was the friendly service and quaint atmosphere. There are plenty if other wonderful restaurants to try in NSB. I'd give this one a miss.

Wonderful little Italian restaurant. When I went, the staff was welcoming and attentive. The food is fairly priced and most importantly very delicious, and sometimes there's live music. Definitely one of my new favorite restaurants in nsb.

Everything is great here, although it's a bit cramped. But that also makes it feel special, so go figure. If you've got problems with gluten you'll definitely have problems here, although the food is so damn good it's a hard trade-off. In all fairness, though, they do have gluten-free for an upcharge.

You must go to this restaurant! Authentic Italian food that is crazy delicious. The service was fabulous and our waiter was from Spain which added to the authenticity of our visit. Order whatever you want off the menu, it's all really good.

Strengths: Great decor and ambiance. TV's thought restaurant. Good wine selection. Pizzas delicious. Opportunities: Can be a little load once locals show up. Not a deal breaker though. It Service a little slow. Summary: Great place to stop and eat.

I walked from the Hampton Inn where the manager told me I should eat here after asking where I should go that I shouldn't miss as I was only in town 1 night. I sat on the patio at a deuce by the door. It was 5:4pm on a Tuesday night.the breeze was wonderful (they have ceiling fans not on or needed) I was wearing shorts and a casual shirt with flip flops, no problem. Travis was my server for the meal. Wireless is weak but secure with an offered password. The warm bread was immediately offered with a plate of oil, light spice and too much balsamic. The bread isn't covered so it gets cold quick. I ordered a caprese salad. It was quite large but nicely done. It had a decent amount of almost ripe tomatoes and fresh greens with pieces of mozzarella as large as the plum tomatoes and I washed it down with an ice cold Stella with a frosty glass while Frank Sinatra and 50's music played in the background for my ears and kids on skateboards frolicked in the park across the street for my eyes. The Entree arrived with great timing and looked wonderful. I ordered the special of the day which was mahi mahi, with angel air, rock shrimp, sun-dried tomatoes and capers. The fish was a about a 5oz portion. It had good flavor and was not at all fishy. The pasta was cooked correctly. The sundried tomatoes, capers and limited broth were meh, it actually tasted a bit removed, like each component was cooked individually then presented. The shrimp were a joke. They were not cleaned, still in the shell, and they smelled like "fish". There were only 4 of them. I did make an attempt to clean then with my fingers and try them with the dish but I decided against it after trying a bite of one. For dessert I tried the cannoli which is made in house like the tiramisu (I don't care for coffee so it was out). It is a large chocolate chip cannoli with a great delicate crust and the right amount of filling to satisfy any sweet tooth. Overall, even though the entree was a disappointment, I would still recommend this restaurant based on two things. First, the staff, who were very friendly, even the young chap who bussed, seemed genuinely concerned with my needs and of course, the service with Travis was genuine, caring and professional, behavior quite welcome in this day and age! Oh, and they are dog friendly on the patio! The second reason is actually the food. Little things like; too much balsamic, covering the bread when you bring it out and cleaning and peeling the shrimp can be easily fixed. So if you happen to find yourself in the mood for Italian while visiting this area check this place out.

I think the food is great-made to order! Different options to meet every Italian food craving! I scored it low because I wish there was more traditional music. The service was great, too, the bathrooms not so much. And I wish there were more outdoor seating for larger parties. Ive had the pizza-yummy! Vodka sauce is good, the Italian wedding soup was wonderful! The bread they make outta their pizza dough and bring dipping oil- SO GOOD. Tiramisu is my favorite dessert, however, this tiramisu was not in my top favorites-the lady finger to marscapone ratio is off and the flavor was not the best-good but not the best. Still an all around good establishment!

Third time I went and always disappointing. Never again. Either pasta sticking together or wait for almost one hour while the place was practically empty...

Located just off of Flagler Ave I've been several times and I've never had a bad meal here I actually think they offer some of the best spaghetti and meatballs in the area. It can get a little crowded and noisy at times but the service has always been good and the owner is very outgoing and always welcomes everyone with a big smile. If you have the opportunity to grab a table outside do it, it's a great place to enjoy a nice glass of wine, people watch and just chill.

Called on a Sunday night to order pizza for take out. Kid on the phone asked me to "hang on a second." He set the phone down, then I heard him complain that all he's done is answer the phone and couldn't get anything else done. Then he complained about the previous caller who'd called to order 7 pizzas. Hey genius - THATS WHAT YOU DO - you take orders for people who want FOOD. If this irritates you, find another job! Needless to say, Mr. Employee-of-the-year never picked the phone back up to take my order. I timed it and was on hold for 8 MINUTES before finally hanging up and giving my business to Stavro's (great pizza, by the way!). Too bad this place doesn't care more about the public it serves. I did try calling back a couple of times, but no one ever picked up the phone.

It is not unusual for us to eat here 3 to 5 times in a week when we are in New Smyrna Beach. We have come for both lunch and dinner and have never been disappointed. Seems like many locals come here. We first started coming here in 2012, shortly after it opened up. All the different dishes including the salads we have had range from very good to excellent. The staff has been very nice but the service does tend to drop when they get busy. However, at all other times they are excellent. I don't normally recommend specific dishes since tastes vary but one of my all-time favorite desserts is tiramisu and they make one of the best ones I have had. I don't normally give 5 stars to a place since I normally feel that they could do better but I truly could not think of a reason not to give them 5 stars.

It was my birthday and they were about to close. The owner gave us the best table in the house and personal took care of us! The food and wine was amazing!! And he brought us dessert!!! We are new smyrna locals and I can honestly tell you it was the best food and experience in this town. You guys rock!!!!

Delicious food and outstanding service! It wasn't very busy on the Monday night when we visited, so the service was quick and just the right level of attentive. My kids wanted to share a Caesar salad and pizza so our server split the servings in the back for both - what a great attention to service! Chicken Parmigiano and fettuccine with vegetables were both fantastic, fresh, hot and flavorful. We have come during our visits the last 3 years, we will return!

The pizza is ABSOLUTELY DEVINE. Seriously the best I've had since I was in Rome, Italy! Make sure to ask for Travis, he's a BAMF! Can't say enough about this place! Will certainly be driving back from Orlando for that margarita pizza, great service, and lovely ambiance!

Went here on NewYears Eve and the place was packed and I completely understand why. The atmosphere is wonderful and the food is delicious. The staff bent over backwards for us. Definitely plan on returning again soon.

I have been here before and will come again. It gets a 3 because it can be anywhere between 2 and a 4 on any given occasion, randomly. If you just want wine and apps on a hot day at the beach, and you don't want overwhelmed by rowdy kids, this is a 5 every time. The clams are great! Daily specials are on point. It just sometimes takes for ever to get your dinner - but they are always nice and they are always generous.

Simply put, perfect! Service was wonderful, nice wines, the Lasagne Ripiene was the very best I have ever had! Pizza's are extremely good. This will be/is my new favorite restaurant in New Smyrna! Thank you to the kitchen staff and wait staff for making this a great experience.

yuck - not sure why this place draws a crowd. It's not the italian food I grew up with - soggy pasta with canned red sauce makes me sick.

We celebrated our Anniversary here this week. A fabulous meal. Delicious bread with olive oil & balsamic. We could have made a meal of the Eggplant rollatini appetizer...it was not too heavy, just so yummy. House salad was very fresh & cold...perfect! Our entree was the nightly special a scallop & mahi dish with marinara served over angel hair pasta...this was also not too heavy, but delicious. Then for dessert we had tiramisu...the best I've ever eaten. How many ways can I describe how wonderful our meal was? Service was great...just enough attention without over doing it. This little gem is tucked away on a side street in NSB across from the Shuffle Board Club. So glad we found it. It is small, but they have a front room and a back room...nice atmosphere...some outside seating too. We will be back!

Horrible ambiance thanks to the owner, and not so great food. 2 nd visit and not to return, In July I went here with my friends and their 3 kids. We sat outside and it was good, food and service. My return visit I will probably not go back. A Friday night in which the owner was loud and obnoxious and I suspect over served. He was sitting talking to a table when. I Came in and moved so we could sit down, way way too loud, Their music soundtrack way too loud. My fish special the scallops on top were overcooked, lifeless, and gross. My sister's chicken Marsala the chef used too much of cornstarch or other thickening ingredient and it stuck like glue. The owner kept coming out and made us cringe he was so loud. In all his over the top speech never. Once thanked my table for being there. He's rude and killing his own restaurant. Add I what I spent for wine and so so entrees; not worth the money this time or any time I've been there. Not to return and I will be in New Smyrna for 2 1/2 more weeks,

We used to like this place a lot. Even though the owner is over the top and a bit inappropriate with the lady customers, we enjoyed the food and ambiance. Our last few times we did not have great experiences, and our last visit will be just that. Our last. Our clams were old and tasted rotten. Our crab cake was burnt, and I mean it was black and charred. Everything was sub standard and the owner was in a horrible mood. Glad we have so much to choose from in NSB. That's Amore is off our list.

Good but not great. I had the chicken parmesan and it came with two big pieces of chicken and a good red sauce. Shareable sizes. Tried the shrimp scampi as well. The shrimp was pretty good but the pasta and sauce was a little bland.

I heard about this restaurant from a friend who live in the area.I am very skeptical when it comes to authentic Italian food.I must say I was pleasantly surprised. The settings and ambiance couldn't be any better to make you enjoy this culinary Gem. That's amore salad was incredible as well as the pizza and desert..the staff very friendly and attentive.this is a must when you visit New Smyrna Beach.

Wow, I just left there on a night that was jammed backed. It is the Fat Tuesday parade. That staff knows how to do their jobs. People were lined up down the street but everyone was having a great time. The staff was smiling, friendly and working together. The food was amazing, there was never a dirty dish left on our table, waters were brought without asking. I spend my youth working for the Disney Corporation so I know good service. To see it at a small place in SMB, PLUS amazing food was not expected but completely enjoyed. We live in Orlando and came up to see my parents who spend winters at the beach and will be back. They have the receipe that make business a success good food, good service, fair prices. 5 stars, good job That's Amore

More like a neighborhood bar than restaurant....lots of "pals" at bar...televisions....service at times good...at times neglectful...food completely unremarkable. Didn't have pizza...nor did we see anyone else having it...but saw some carry out pizza. In our view no reason to return...but are a .little curious about the pizza.

Some of the worst Italian food I've ever had. We should have walked out when we saw the hokey newspaper menus. We should have walked out when we were served salads covered in cheap balsamic vinegar. We really, really should have walked out when we were served Barilla pasta with a disgusting, fatty, coat-your-tongue-and-feel-like-throwing-up alfredo sauce. I don't review places on Yelp often (or ever), but I feel it's my duty to warn others about the horrors of That's Amore... or perhaps I'm just being an asshole. Either way, don't go. Please, please don't go.

Stopped in here last night & as always it was AWESOME!!! We sat at the bar this time because it was packed as usual since it is so good!! Quick service from the nice bartenders! We ordered calamari & it was great! And we ordered a pizza with pepperoni & fresh garlic! OMG, if you love garlic this is your pizza! We loved loved loved it!!

The food is imaginative and tasty. The servers are friendly and attentive. The owner is typically there and shows the diners personal attention. The manager that I know - Justin - is a great person. I recommend that you try That's Amore.

One of the best restaurants in town. Their specialty pizzas are amazing especially the seafood pizza. They have great appetizers and pasta and some of the best wine in town as well. You can't go wrong here.

Being a N.Y.C.Italian and traveling to Italy for 18 years with my wife, we have eaten in some of the finest Italian resturants. We rank that's Amore as one of our best. We felt we were back in Italy, Vincenzo and his staff made us feel part of their family. Aguri Frank and Carolyn

I had the pleasure of spending a few weeks in the New Smyrna Beach Area and found this place. The food is fantastic, the people are AMAZING and the experience is fantastic overall. I think everyone should try this place. I don't write many reviews but I had to tell everyone how amazing this place is. Vicenzo is a great guy, along with his whole staff.

  • Mike H.

A cool place, certainly with much better atmosphere than food, unfortunately. The food is not bad, just a little dull in terms of taste. Maybe tuned to the senior citizen customer. Sal's place over by the beach has much, much better food. Loved Al, the singer on the main floor.

  • j h.

Absolutely amazing food! Some of my faves are: - mahi pizza - thin crust white pizza with mahi on a bed of salad with light dressing. - tomato basil soup - penne vodka - smoked chicken ravioli - tiramisu what not to go there for: - floppy NY style pizza .. this place does thin crispy pizzas well but if you're looking for a massive pizza slice piled high with cheese, you'll be disappointed - chicken rolls & calzones .. they dont have them.

    (5)
  • Shawn S.

The pizza for one was large (and pricey) and good, and the spaghetti and meatballs was also good. Good bread. There was an older gentleman singing Rat Pack classics which kept the ambience light and inviting.

Our favorite thing so far is having glasses of the house Pinot Grigo, Bruschetta, and Mussels ... Ooooo yummy ... we love the Panini too. All in all a nice little friendly welcoming bistro very reminiscent of what we found in the North Beach / Washington Square area in San Francisco. Being from the SF Bay Area living in NSB has taken a bit of getting used to ... we recently moved to within earshot of Flagler and Pine in the village. Love it here and LOVE that we are a stones throw from THAT'S AMORE which has become our favorite landing pad after a stroll with our pooch. We love sitting outside with our little doggy and he loves cleaning up the crumbs of the previous diners. We vote a big thumbs up for DOG FRIENDLY eaterys !!

Stumbled onto this fabulous restaurant by accident. On a recent stroll down Flagler Avenue, while a friend was visiting from out of town, we were greeted by a gregarious, outspoken Native of Napoli - Vincenzo and could not help but succumb to his charm and stay for dinner. That was almost two months and multiple sets of guests later... Wow! I am glad I did. With superb service, a lovely wine selection and incredible enthusiasm from the kitchen to the service staff, That's Amore offers delightful food in a friendly atmosphere. Perfect for families to first dates, it truly is a gem. The Tiramisu delectable (yes... why not start with dessert first) from an old family recipe, the specials are usually include a fresh seafood collection and the gnocchi is ooooh sooooo yummy! You can't go wrong with That's Amore!

  • L B.

Their food and service was absolutely amazing! We ordered the penne pasta (I had salmon with it and my fiancé had chicken). The vodka cream sauce was delicious. I'd recommend this place if you're looking for good Italian food.

  • Kathleen B.

Very disappointing. Very noisy with slow service. Menu stated homemade ravioli, but when I asked about it, I was told it was pre bought. Why does it say homemade? Waitress said, only sauces and "bread dough" were homemade. Alfredo sauce was not good. I wish they had bought that as well. Chicken added to meal was over-cooked and hard. Eat at another Italian restaurant in town.

  • Linda R.

Hey, I still love this place but the pizza was only OK. I like a nice chewy, crusty style of pizza crust and it just wasn't quite there, a bit too floury for me. The pizza was well cooked but the style was not mine.

very good pizza and salads, friendly staff.

Excellent! I have a home in NSB and try to eat here twice a week. The Chicken Parmigiano with Spaghetti is the best you will ever eat! Very good not overly spicy , perfect. Large portion of tasty fried chicken fillet covered with thick melted cheese and tender spaghetti and red sauce. MAKE SURE TO EAT HERE!

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
